Email marketing is one of the most effective and well-known ways to generate business leads. E-mails are not useful unless they reach the user’s inbox in time. Unsuccessful email deliveries are a common problem in business nowadays.

Email deliverability is the process of successful email deliveries to your contact’s inbox without being filtered out as spam or junk by email service providers. Simply put, email deliverability is how successfully emails pass through all the filters and reach the inbox. There are some crucial steps to maximize email deliverability.

    • Step 1: Sender Policy Framework (SPF)

To maximize email delivery, it is important to prevent spam and email forgery. Creating a mail with Sender Policy Framework ensures maximization of email deliveries timely. Especially for commercial emails, it is crucial to use SPF for enhanced and effective email delivery. This authentic protocol will protect the business from various spoofing attacks. Not only this,  it helps you to build a good relationship with your customers and increase brand value. By incorporating the Sender Policy Framework, you can assure that the emails reach the customer’s account inbox instead of ending up in the spam folder. Validate all your emails with this authentication protocol to prove to the ISPs regarding the authentication of a particular email.

    • Step 2: DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM)

Create an email with DomainKeys Identified Mail to ensure 100% mail deliveries without any forgery. It is an authentication protocol that protects emails from phishing, spam, and spoofing. Set up DKIM to prevent email spoofing and maximize email deliveries in business. DKIM adds an encrypted signature to all the emails. It is highly recommended for businesses to use their own DKIM key on all outgoing messages. It prevents the delivery of harmful e-mails like spam. E-mails are an effective mode of communication for business. Therefore, mail deliveries need to be enhanced by incorporating DKIM in all emails.

    • Step 3: Register a subdomain  for email activity

Maximize email deliveries by registering a subdomain that you can use only for email activities. Email marketing is a very popular mode of communication with potential leads. Over time, the subdomain will allow monitoring of the IP reputation without restricting domain certification filters.

    • Step 4: Check Email sender reputation

Until and unless emails reach your users’ inbox, it is actually of no importance or use.  Emails are not delivered due to an inadequate sender reputation score. The ISP randomly rejects all the emails that do not fulfill the sender score requirement.  Therefore, it is important to check the sender’s reputation to maximize email deliveries. The sender score is calculated based on spam reports and unsubscribes.  Once you start working on improving the sender’s reputation, email deliveries can be easily improved.

    • Step 5: Build IP Reputation and credibility

Segment your customers based on criteria and factors. This helps you to send relevant e-mails to your targeted audience. When you send relevant e-mails, they are reaching the inbox of the right customers and they are getting opened. When an internet service provider finds out that your emails are being opened by customers regularly, it can help in building trust which is important for improving mail deliverability. The more you send relevant emails to segmented groups, the more trust and better mail delivery you get.

    • Step 6: Increase email delivery gradually

Build IP credibility and domain reputation by increasing the email delivery volume slowly. Firstly, the IP addresses do not have any credibility or trust. With time, the domain reputation is built which ensures that the emails reach the right destination. When an email is delivered it does not mean it has reached the inbox. Therefore, by increasing the credibility of domain and IP, you can maximize e-mail delivery. A domain warm-up is good where you can build IP trust by increasing the number of emails slowly.

    • Step 7: Use 3rd party SMTP gateways

The SMTP gateways ensure businesses reliably send e-mails from websites to targeted audiences. The SMTP servers configure the emails in such a manner that they reach the inbox and not the spam or junk folders. Various well-known SMTP service providers maximize email deliverability.

The Simple Mail Transfer Protocol follows authorized standards to send e-mails which enhances the chances of your business e-mails reaching your user’s inbox directly.

    • Step 8: Check your mail server

Check your mail server to avoid blacklisting. Blacklisting is the outcome of too many spam emails. If the email you are using has a shared server, the mail deliverability will be affected. If the IP address of the sender is not reputed, the recipient may refuse the email. The worst part is, business does not get to know that an important notification email has not reached its user’s inbox. It is good to check frequently with the hosting or server provider regarding the mail server performance.
